BANF is calling for nominations and self-nominations of community reviewers. We seek leaders in the arts community, including independent artists, educators, patrons, community advocates and organizers. The selected reviewers will join members of BANF’s Steering Committee, Accountability and Advisory Council and current grantees to engage in a peer review process to consider applications for upcoming BANF opportunities.
Community Reviewers
One of the goals of BANF is to employ community-participatory and equity-informed processes that empower the communities most impacted by the funding. To that end, BANF is calling for nominations and self-nominations of community reviewers. We seek leaders in the arts community, including independent artists, educators, patrons, community advocates and organizers who represent, serve, and/or celebrate the BIPOC communities in Greater Houston and beyond. Nominees should have a history of advocating for the importance of arts and culture in developing a rich, vibrant, and thriving community. Community reviewers bring unique insight and knowledge that enriches the new conversations that BANF facilitates about Houston’s BIPOC arts communities. The selected reviewers will join members of BANF’s Steering Committee, Accountability and Advisory Council, and current grantees to engage in a peer-review process to consider applications for BANF opportunities.
Community Nominated Reviewers should reflect these qualities, experiences, and understandings:
- Be objective and knowledgeable about the arts and culture in the Greater Houston Region.
- Be a connector of communities who listens to many different voices.
- Have a history of advocating for communities of color, artists, or arts organizations.
